My mission is to make Midwifery mainstream again.

I believe in a midwife model of care, where women are fully listened to, and their provider gets to know them as a person, beyond the numbers on a chart. Where they have continuity of care throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

In midwifery school, when I learned that Ob/GYN visits were 5-10 minutes and only 1-2 postpartum visits, I knew that our system was broken.

I realized that women were piece-mealing their pregnancy education, community, and support.  They were looking for answers in popular, but flawed, pregnancy books, advice from family and friends, and hoping that their childbirth education class would fill in all the gaps that they were experiencing.

They were creating community in yoga classes, moms groups, and childbirth education classes.  Forever looking for a curated group of women who they could lean on through all of the ups and down of pregnancy and through postpartum.  Always seeking the right fit, but not quite finding the place where they could be completely open, honest and vulnerable.

Your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are not one-size-fits all.  That’s why asking your pregnancy questions on blogs, websites, and in groups never feels quite right.  Friends, family, and the internet all have opinions, but you need individualized, expert-advice without all of the fluff.

Testimonial:

I love that I'm being cared for. That all the little details are tended to. It just feels very nurturing.
You know, it's not just like going in the doctor's office where they're just running numbers and taking test. I feel like it's a nurturing way to bring a child into the world.

The System Needs Healing

I’m going to tell you straight- If you are relying on the maternity system, then you aren’t not getting your needs completely met.  Your doctor doesn’t know you.  They aren’t giving you information for informed decisions.

Seeing how broken this system really is made me even more determined to make midwifery care mainstream. With 11 years of working with pregnant women, and 7 years as a practicing midwife, I’ve seen how a holistic approach can make all the difference: You’re showing up as a good parent because you’re happy, you’re confident, you’re getting what you need. And you have support, and you’re making better decisions because of it.

Growing up, I was an only child raised by a single mom. I didn’t know anything about birth or pregnancy, I didn’t grow up with kids or babies. In fact, pregnant women intimidated me for a long time – they just had so much ENERGY.

The idea that they were carrying another human being inside of them just fascinated me.

As I got older, I started reading a lot about our food system and how it prioritizes quantity over quality. I got a job in a health food store, where my world expanded to learn about holistic health.
A chain of events led me to midwifery school, and I got to see up close that ENERGY that was so palpable to me as a kid.
But now, instead of being intimidated, I was motivated to serve them in this new way.

Being a midwife, I serve women one-to-one, but I knew that there were so many more women that need or want to have an OB/GYN, that are missing out on the midwifery touch in their care.

I’ve been a midwife since 2014 and have helped over 200 women during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My practice has always been different because I see my clients throughout the first year postpartum, which adds an extra layer of support. I’ve been there to celebrate the excitement, joys, and many birth-days. I’ve also been there to lean on when things are harder, unplanned, and through the many changes that happen.
I’ve been there to support relationships, unexpected outcomes, and times when postpartum anxiety or
depression flare-up.

I wanted a way to be able to reach more women and give them the best of both worlds. I teamed up with two additional midwives and Your Thriving Pregnancy™ was born.

If you’re feeling anxious or nervous about birth, if you feel like your care provider isn’t giving you what you need, or you’re just open to a new way of thinking about birth and parenthood (one that’s based on support, community, and a holistic approach), you’re in the right place.
